JewelID
A luxury RFID retail suite with a tamper-evident Digital Passport.

OVERVIEW
JewelID tags every piece in a jewellery showroom with RFID. Staff stocktake trays in seconds instead of hours, every movement is audited across watches, sunglasses and leather goods, and each piece carries a tamper-evident Digital Passport a customer can open with a QR scan or NFC tap, showing provenance, certification and care from origin to resale.
THE CHALLENGE
Jewellery retail runs on trust and manual counting. The suite had to serve two audiences at once: a back office that demands ruthless inventory accuracy, and a showroom floor where everything customer-facing has to feel like the brand. Luxury, not logistics.
WHAT I BUILT
- 01
The Digital Passport stores a SHA-256 hash of its own fields for every one of 23 lifecycle event types, so any later edit surfaces as a tamper warning. Verifiable provenance, no blockchain required.
- 02
A luxury design system (gold/ink/wine, Playfair Display) kept consistent across 35+ screens spanning web dashboard, Android app and kiosk signage.
- 03
Real-time tray reconciliation over Socket.IO with a four-state inventory board (expected / scanned / conflict / unknown) that settles live as trays hit the reader.
- 04
Android companion in Kotlin + Jetpack Compose (Material 3) with a dual reader path (direct UHF SDK on the device serial port, or a keyboard-broadcast fallback), plus a ZPL label editor with live preview and AR try-on for customers.
OUTCOME
Hours of manual stocktake collapsed into seconds, with a customer-facing layer that turns inventory tech into a brand experience.
